Hi, I’m Liz Butler!
Owner and founder of Barrio Performance Therapy. I’m a Tucson native and a lifelong equestrian with a passion for horses. My official title is "equine bodyworker", a profession I didn't really even know existed until a couple of years ago.
When I learned about equine bodywork, I was hooked before I ever even started. It was exactly what I wanted to spend my life doing but had never been able to fully conceptualize.
I now specialize in Equine Massage, PEMF therapy, cold laser, kinesiology taping, and stretching, integrated approaches that help the body heal itself.
I remain a lifelong student of the horse and enjoy learning as much as I can about holistic modalities to bring the most knowledge possible to my practice.
I believe that through bodywork, we can create soft, supple, and most importantly comfortable horses. When horses feel their best, there is no limit to what they can achieve.

Meet Aimee McGuire!
Aimee is a lifelong horse girl with a natural talent for equine bodywork. Liz has had the pleasure of working on her horses (shoutout to Fendi, Tango, and Freckles!) for the last several years while Aimee pursued her Equine Science degree at the University of Arizona and competed in barrel racing in the college rodeo circuit.
For the past year, Liz had been nudging (okay, maybe relentlessly encouraging ) Aimee to turn her passion for horses into a career in equine bodywork. Finally, Liz’s persistence paid off! Aimee graduated from the U of A in May 2025 and immediately began her equine massage therapy certification. Over the summer, she’s been diving into her coursework, apprenticing with Liz, and getting her hands on as many horses as possible.
Aimee will be contracts with Barrio to deliver the same high-quality sessions you and your horses know and love, but with a fresh set of hands. She brings new techniques, a vibrant mindset, and a keen eye to the team—qualities Barrio is thrilled to share with you all.
You’ll often see both Liz and Aimee at your sessions. Your horse may receive bodywork from Liz, Aimee, or a combination of both.
